Room 1 and Edmund Hillary School were so lucky to have KPMG visit this week and give special Christmas presents to all of the children.
All of Room 1 children were so happy with their presents and we had a great afternoon with Jack from KPMG.
Thank you Jack and all of the wonderful KPMG people we are all very grateful.
Kia ora every one
Today with Nane we were trying to code our Edison Robots to follow a path through a word boggle and spell out a three letter word.
We are getting really good at coding our robots now.
Here are some of the children spelling some words. Can you see what words they have made?
We had to order the planets in the solar system first as a group. We were all really good at this.
We have been putting in to practice our maths skills using division, our measuring skills using rulers, our debugging skills and coding skills.
We had to make our own grid this morning which had measuring, dividing, planning and heaps of team work.
Then we had to put the planets on the grid and code our robots to go to each planet in order.
We have been learning how to draw using digital tools. We used the curve tool to trace around a photo of our face. We used the colour wheel extension to get the perfect colours for our portrait.
We had to do a lot of debugging today when trying to figure out the steps (algorithm) to get some blocks of the same colour in our hands.
We started with different colours and had to pass them around until we had two of the same colours.
It was very challenging but we started to get it after lots of trying.
We did a treasure hunt of Cam's blog to find out information about her. We know that we should not share personal information on our blogs like when our birthday is and how old we are.
Here are our treasure hunts from today.
Today Nane gave us a challenge. We had to build a tower with iceblock sticks and bluetac. The challenge was we could only use one hand!
We had to work together to make the sticks stick and pull the bluetac apart.
Here is some pictures of how we were trying to work together.
